Updates on Aaron Markey

16.03.2003

Aaron was released from the hospital yesterday (Friday). He is now at home recovering. We are still taking him in for IV treatments, but soon hope for that to be over as well. Please pray for him as he is at home and his recovery. The doctors have said that it will take three months for his entire recovery. They are also advising for him not to return to school this year. We continue to trust in the Lord's leading and healing. May He use this entire affair for His glory!

11.03.2003

Today Aaron walked for the first time since his accident. He is still very dizzy and off balance. Perhaps that is from the damage done in his ear. Broken ear drum? Still unsure on that one.

The doctors visited and have recommended that Aaron stay in the hospital for another week or two. He is still recovering from a very serious injury, which the doctors have said will take a full three months to recover from.

Culturally people stay in hospitals longer here than in America. We are hoping to get him home sooner so that he can recover there, since they are not really doing anything new for him at the hospital. We will take it day by day though.

Please pray for Pam. Being in the hospital 24/7 in a common room with other children and families has been tiring. Please pray for her strength and wisdom as she is making decisions and guiding Aaron.

08.03.2003

Aaron sat up almost the entire day, a big improvement from Thursday night when he could not even raise his head. There was almost no pain today in his head. Praise the Lord! He made paper airplanes, talked with vistors and boys in his room, and was more his normal self.

06.03.2003 (11:20 amUkraine time)

Hello everyone,

According to the doctor Aaron's condition is serious but is now stable. Tuesday they did a spinal tap which relieved the pressure in the brain. They have confirmed that Aaron has a fractured scull and that the pressure in Aaron's head is twice as much as it should be. With medications they are draining the blood and fluids that have gathered in his intracranial cavity. They are continuing their treatment and expect him to be in the hospital for an extended period of time.

Please pray for Aaron's continual healing. In Ukraine they tend to keep people longer the needed, so pray that he won't be in the hospital longer then necessary. Also we are trying to get a private room, right now there are 6 other boys in the room. Pray for strength for the family through all of this and wisdom.

We appreciate your prayers so much,
George, Pam and family

05.03.2003 (3:45 pm Ukraine time)

Just within the past couple of hours, Aaron has begun feeling much better. We are not sure if they have changed the medicine they were giving him or what. But he is actually smiling and even saying a few jokes. Thanks for your continued prayers!

They are now trying to get Aaron a private room. (Not as easy as one would think) Please pray that something would become available seeing that it is difficult for him to rest with other people in the same room..

04.03.2003 (1:25 pm Ukraine time)

Aaron had a procedure done called the Lombard Puncture. Something was inserted from his back into his skull to measure the pressure and drain fluids. The pressure in his head was (is?) 2 times more than it should be, and there was blood in the fluid that was drained off indicating a fracture.

Pam is confident in the doctors who are treating him. They are compliling a list of medications for his treatment. There is a hole in his eardrum as well, so they are very concerned about diseases such as menangitis.

The doctors still consider him to be in serious condition. They are still not fully aware of the damage that has been done, but have given some diagnoses and are confident that they are on the right track.

The doctor has the number for the US Embassy in case they need to obtain medicines that are not available here, but the doctor seems confident in treating him as they would normally treat someone here with the same kind of problem.

Renee went to visit him last night while Pam came home to clean up amd get more things for the hospital. Aaron was very glad to see Renee and so blessed to hear of the many people who are praying for him.

The doctors are saying that this will be a long procedure and that Aaron will be in the hospital for a while. We are not pressing from dates.

04.03.2003

Dear friends and family,

The good news on Aaron is that he does not need an operation. Praise the Lord! We spoke to the main doctor in charge and he said that they are going to try to treat him with medicines. He said that Aaron is in serious condition and wanted to know if we would be able to get any medicines that is required. We have already spoken to the American embassy and they said that they would be able to look for the medicines.
Now we are still waiting on a diagnosis. Aaron was looked at by many doctors today(Monday) and still no concrete diagnosis. Tomorrow we are going back to speak to the main doctor and will give him the contact number to the embassy, hopefully that will move things along. Aaron is in allot of pain in the back and right side of his head, he is having trouble hearing from his right ear.

Thank you so much for your prayers, we told Aaron that people all over the world are praying for him. That made him cry and makes him feel stronger.

Thank you for all of your encouragement,
George, Pam and family

Aaron Markey Seriously Injured

03.03.2003

Hi everybody,

We wanted to ask for your prayer support. Today during George and Sharon's second wedding Aaron fainted and hit his head on the cement floor and then lost consciousness for about three min. We noticed that there was bleeding coming out of his ear. He is now in the institute of neurology and they have done a cat scan and x-ray. So far a surgery is not necessary but they are watching him for any further developments. Special prayer for wisdom on Monday when the doctors come in.

Thank you for your support,

George and Pam

"10 YEARS IN UKRAINE"

10.09.2002

In one month we will be celebrating 10 years of ministry in Ukraine. This is not just a time for those of us who are physically in Ukraine to rejoice in all that the Lord has done and is doing, but also for those of you who have played a part in the ministry here through prayers, trips here, financial support, etc.. Thank you for all of you who have had an active part in the ministry here. God is working through all of you.

Please pray for this special time of celebration. We desire to constantly see the Holy Spirit work in the Body of Christ. We desire this time to be challengeing, especially for those who have been riding the fence, spiritually speaking, or flirting with the world. May committments be renewed to serve the Lord out of a pure heart. May lives be challenged to live even more boldly for Him as His return is very near.

Kharkiv: the second largest city in Ukraine

04.16.2002

We have been invited by two groups from the city of Kharkiv (eastern Ukraine) to come and plant a church. There are many students in this city and entire regions which do not have an evangelical witness. A team from Kiev is leaving on April 19th in order to explore these possibilities. We have been praying for Kharkiv for a long time and look forward to what the Lord wants to do there.

Please lift up this team that is heading down there as well as our future plans for outreach this summer. Pray for a healthy church to be planted there.

The Mayor's Desk

03.07.2002

Our building proposal and is on the desk of the mayor of Kiev. We are to receive word soon regarding the possibility of purchasing or even receiving as a gift this facility. We discovered that the process is taking extra long as a result of the new regional boundaries in Kiev.

We were told to expect a call to stand before a city commission in order to discuss our proposal. Please pray for these recent events and the Lord's will to be done regarding the church and this facility.

The Next Step

10.11.2001

We are now in the process of purchasing the building for the church in Kiev. The Lord has abundantly blessed us with the funds for the cost of the building. We trust in the Lord's provisions for the future costs of the repairs.

It has been an interesting past couple of weeks. We have had several meetings, even with an advisor to the President of Ukraine. It seems that many people have become interested in who we are and what we are doing. I suppose that could be good or bad.

So, please pray for the Lord's will to be accomplished in this. May the Lord grant us extraordinary wisdom in dealing with all of those involved in this purchase.

Our Conclusions Regarding the Building in Kiev

10.10.2001

The decision of the Kiev church and church board has been positive concerning the building which we have been praying about. As a result, we are looking to the Lord to provide the necessary funds to purchase and repair this building. Please continue to pray for the Lord's perfect will concerning this facility.

If you would like more information concerning this building, please view our descriptive project summary. If you would like to help contribute towards the purchase and repair of it, please contact us at ccmukraine@aol.com.

A New Church Plant in Zaporozhia

10.10.2001

The Lord has given us another opportunity to plant a new work. This one is in the city of Zaporozhia, in souther Ukraine. Campus Crusade for Christ has a large work in southern Ukraine and has invited us to plant a church for the students there that are becoming believers.

Please pray for the ministry teams that will go down every weekend in order to lead services and minister to the new believers there. Also, in the middle of October, Campus Crusade for Christ will be holding a large conference in Zaporozhia and has requested that our worship team lead the attendees in song. About half of those attending will not be Christian. Please pray for many at this conference to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

A Church Home for Calvary Chapel of Kiev?

04.25.2001

Well, it's time for another move for the church, literally. We have been told by the director of the Kyiv Movie Theater that they are closing for repairs and that we must find a new location. Please pray that the Lord would lead us to the place where He wants us to be.

On a similar note, we are now praying about the purchase of our own facility. Even before the news of our departure from the Kiev theatre, we found a sports complex that's being auctioned by the government and would make a great multiple purpose building. Up to 1,100 people could be seated in this facility for the Sunday service with classrooms on the sides and upstairs. We need much prayer concerning the Lord's will in this. Thank you for your prayers. Click here to see a picture of the building that we are praying about.

April Outreaches

02.05.2001

April is going to be a month of many evangelistic outreaches in Kiev and other cities. Some from America will meet up with teams of Ukrainians here for joint outreaches, especially in Dnepropetrovsk. This is a new city for us to be working in -- one with over 1 1/2 million people! What great opportunities there are. Please pray for the health and effectiveness of these teams; that the Holy Spirit would even now begin to work in the hearts of the people. Only by the work of the Holy Spirit can real fruit be seen.

Pray for Upcoming National Conference

02.05.2001

From May 8th through the 11th we will be having our annual National conference. At this moment decisions are being made concerning location, theme, and other major issues. Please pray for wisdom in making decisions and in working with directors and governmental officials. Also, begin to pray for those who will be attending the conference. We are excited to see that many of the new church plants are growing and getting rooted and grounded in the Word. We look forward to seeing many people from these new churches at the conference this year.
